Great Return to Twin Falls

SISBA returned to Bowladrome in Twin Falls after an extended hiatus and found the lane conditions much changed - for the better! Dennis and Michelle Seckel have done a lot of work on the bowling center and the scores showed it.

There were only 48 entries, but those who showed up were well rewarded. Perennial great, Bob Bywater of Rupert, Idaho, was the top qualifier in the tournament with a 1229, five-game score. Along with this were eleven scores of 1100 or better and 17 were in the 1000-1099 range. That means that over half the field were over 1000.

Terry Sargent, Layton, Utah, became the first lady bowler to achieve high squad qualifier as she rolled out an 1188 series, just nosing out Den Fernandez of West Valley City, Utah, who shot an 1186 series. There were some great scores in the two game match as Bywater posted a 480, and Scott Livingstone of Pocatello, Idaho, had a 457 series.

In the step-ladder finals, Larry Buffington of Boise, Idaho, just barely survived against Ed Strommen's 253 game. Strommen is from Anaconda, Montana. Buffington was eliminated by Wes Mills of Idaho Falls, Idaho who met and beat Larry Wasson, also of Idaho Falls, for the championship. It is Mills' second first place finish in SISBA competition.

There were a couple of 279 games, too, to dip into the STORM 300 game pot - Den Fernandez, and Tom Smith of Twin Falls, Idaho. See Tournament Results.

Those eligible for the Non-Casher's tournament are: Gene Baxter, Carl Bond, Steve Bordley, Gary Burton,  Darrell Callison, Jerry Caple, Howard Christensen, Mike Connelly, Ryan Ellis, Ray French, Willie Hainsworth, Don Howell, Dave John, Dave Johnson, Kerry Johnson, Tom Karr, Dave Leisinger, Scott Livingstone, Bill McBath, Don McKay, Randy Millspaugh, Allen Nelson, Ed Pullman, Steve Robbins, Don Robinson, Ron Ruiz, Darrell Shay, Rich Smith, Vardell Tait, and Alan Trahern.
