Good times at the Snake River Bowl

As is always the case, there was super bowling and good times at the Snake River Bowl in Burley, Idaho. Eighty-seven entries marked another super turnout in the first tournament of 2003.

Don Howell of D H Repair in Burley, and a longtime participant in the tournament, rustled up $500 added prize money from George K's Restaurant and the Burley Inn / Budget Inn. We hope you supported these generous businesses, and will do so again when we return to Burley for the Grand Finals in April.

The scoring was great, too, as Jeff Foster, of Taylorsville, Utah,  rolled out a 300 game - the second in a row - finishing with a 712 for the first three games. He took the current 300 game pot of $100, so we will start out with another $100 for the next tournament.

Don Robinson, Boise, Idaho, was high qualifier for the tournament with an 1152, rolling a 470 in the two-game roll-off, and dispatching Les Comer of Bozeman, Montana, with a 207 game. He gave up his first seed position in the step-ladder finals, however, as Charlie Hardin of Meridian, Idaho, had qualified with an 1102, posted a 505 in the two-gamer, and 249 in the one-game match.

Hardin ultimately took first seed in the finals and went on to win the tournament for his first place title. Hardin joined the SISBA  in the 2001-2002 season, and this was his first tournament of the current season.

Other good bowling included a 279 game by Dale Rhoades of Ririe, Idaho; a 277-741 by Skip Wing of South Ogden, Utah; 279-724 by Bob Bywater of Rupert, Idaho; 278 by Orville Edwards of Pocatello, Idaho;  and 277 by J.D. Merrill of Elko, Nevada. For more scores, go to January 2003 tournament results.

Our next tournament will be at Pine Bowl in Pocatello, Idaho. This is a 16-Lane bowling center, so getting your entry in early is recommended. Bob Ross of Bowler's Den is sponsoring the tournament with $500 added money. As a LONG-time supporter of the SISBA tournaments, we appreciate his generosity.  To sign up now, go to the Entry Form page.

We would like to welcome new members Bob Bailey of Elko, Nevada; Ben Fulton of Ogden, Utah; Tom Karr of Spring Creek, Nevada, and Bob Garrison of Meridian, Idaho.
