Great Turnout for the Elko Tournament

In spite of snow showers in all directions from Elko, Nevada, the bowlers came from all over to participate in the second to the last tournament of the season. There were 81 entries in the tournament - up from the 72 who entered in the 2005 tournament.

Sponsored by the Stockmen's Hotel and Casino, Swire Coca-Cola, Eagle Eye Emboidery, Sonny Davidson of Edward Jones, Toki Ona Restaurant and Lounge and Desert Paradise Lanes, everyone was trying to get a piece of the prize fund and had the bonus $500 from Stockmen's Hotel and Casino for first place in their plans.

The scores were typically low - only Don Robinson of Boise, Idaho, was able to crack the 1000 barrier while low to make the 20 person cut was 893. There were 20 scores in the 900s while low in the tournament was 673. There were some high games: Don Robinson had a 257 game while Leo O'Ryan, a tournament sponsor in the Idaho Falls tournament, had a game of 253. See tournament results.

The winner of the STORM Bowling Balls were Shane May of Jackson, Wyoming, Brenda Bond and Sheila Myers, both of Elko, Nevada. Don Robinson was the winner of the High Rollers Tournament entry.

The April tournament will be held at Spare Time Family Fun Center in Roy, Utah.  Please remember that this tournament is the FIRST weekend of April - April 2, not on the usual second week.

Attention!!

The Grand Finals Tournament will be at Tough Guy Lanes in Pocatello on April 23, 2006. It will be sponsored again by Econolodge University. The manager, Tony Vara, has advised us that there will be a state youth soccer tournament in Pocatello at the same time and hotel/motel rooms will be scarce. Econolodge University has 15 rooms left and has blocked them for SISBA Bowlers, so get your reservations in as soon as possible.  1-800-377-0451.

Welcome to new member Bill Thompson of Peoria, Arizona.  Hope to see you at future tournaments.

Thank you so much toJ.D. Merrill, Jo Copeland, and Nola Lorengo and the rest of the staff of Desert Paradise Lanes. I am sorry I cannot remember everyone's names, but we always feel very welcome there.
