Foray Into Nampa As Expected

Only 48 entries marked our return to Nampa Bowling Center, the lowest of this season. But the bowling scores were great!

Jerry Meyers of Pocatello, Idaho, lead the field throughout the tournament by starting with a five-game qualifying score of 1157. He went on to roll a 446 in the two-game match then 257 in the one-game match. Rolling a 190 game against Bob Morris of Hailey, Idaho (also making his first visit to the step-ladder finals), clinched the championship.

Meyers also tapped into the STORM 300 Game Pot by knocking the pins down in the first game of qualifying for a great 279 game. However, he shared the pot money with Dave John, also of Pocatello, as he also rolled a 279 game. See Nampa tournament results.

There were several new members to join SISBA during the Nampa tournament: Welcome to Bill Miller of Pocatello, Idaho, Randy Millspaugh of Kuna, Idaho and Jack Owsley and Les Wallace, both of Boise, Idaho.

We have been working diligently with Rich Merrill of Desert Paradise Lanes in Elko, Nevada - site of our late March tournament (March 30-31, 2003). So far he has drummed up $2500 in added money to the prize fund from United Coin, Coca Cola, Rocky Mountain Air, Elko Marine, and Nevada State Bank. Desert Paradise Lanes is also adding a substantial amount to the pot.

The Stockman's Hotel and Casino has also promised to pay the first place winner of the tournament an additional $500 if they are staying at the Stockman's Hotel during the tournament. The number to make reservations is 1-800-648-2345. The rates are very good, and we urge you to make your reservations early. Please be sure to mention you are with the SISBA tournament!

Because we anticipate a big turnout, there will be no doubles on Saturday, and instead there will be three qualifying squads on Saturday and one on Sunday. The Sunday squad will be at 9 a.m. with the roll-offs following immediately. This is to facilitate those who are driving a long way to get an earlier start. Entry into the Sunday squad will require pre-payment to hold the spot.

We would like to thank the staff and management (especially Steve Young and John Chatterton) of the Nampa Bowling Center for being great hosts!!!
