After three straight tournaments of over 75 entries,
the 12 lanes in Blackfoot, Idaho made the streak come to an end. There were
three openings on the first squad, and six on the waiting list for the second
squad.
And it was plain to see why there were people waiting
in line to re-enter as the scores were great. Ron Hendricks of Fort Hall, Idaho,
started out with an 1116 for top qualifier in the first squad. Hendricks went on
to win the tournament by averaging 245 in the step-ladder finals with a total of
735 pins. It was Hendricks first win for the 2001-2002 SISBA season.
We are sad to report the passing of SISBA's oldest
member, Al Pederson of Pocatello, Idaho. He was 83 years old and died after
being struck by a car after retrieving his mail at his home on December 28,
2001. He was known for his quick laugh and great bowling ability. He was a
member of the Pocatello Bowling Hall of Fame and the Idaho State Hall of Fame
and was bowling in four leagues at the time of his death. He will be sorely
missed by all who knew him.
The next tournament, to be held at Pine Bowl in
Pocatello, Idaho, will have at least $500 added money to the prize fund by
Bowler's Den, owned by SISBA member Bob Ross. Along with the money from the
STORM bowling ball raffle, the prize fund payoff ought to be great.
We would like to welcome new member Chuck Reinbold of Jackson, Wyoming
to the SISBA tournaments.
And a special thanks to Jerry Goodwin and the great staff of Starlite
Lanes in Blackfoot, Idaho, for a great time!
SO!! Who's Winning the Pots?
