Scores as Good as Ever at Missoula The overall scoring was pretty good at Westside Lanes in Missoula, Montana. John Brodersen of Helena, was awesome again as he rolled out a 1222 five game series to lead the pack in the B Division. Brodersen still hold the SISBA record of 1323 which he rolled last year in Missoula. Again, there was a disappointing turnout for the tournament as there was only 52 entries. It is hard to tell if this lack of entries is because of the price of gas or because our regular members are not comfortable with the division format. At any rate, the next tournament will be in Burley, Idaho, at Snake River Lanes. If the turnout is not much better - especially in the A division - we will return to the regular format of the past tournaments for the remaining season. We certainly appreciate the businesses who gave $1500 to add to the prize list: James Ouelette, DDS, Southgate Inn, Overhead Door of Missoula, BFI, Ziegler Building Supply, Summit Amusement, Paradise Falls Casino, and Westside Lanes. We were able to pull more qualifiers up to the playoffs than the one in six we usually take. We were, however, unable to conduct the playoffs in the usual format as the rules require at least 18 entries in the division to qualify for the extra $500. As B Division was the only division to have over 18 entries, the winner of that division was automatically the overall winner of the tournament. And that winner, Don Bruch of Missoula, certainly earned the extra money. Starting at the bottom of the qualifying list, he beat Jim Ouellette, also of Missoula, by only one pin in the five-game qualifying round to move on to the two game, head to head match. There he shot a 503 two-game total to oust Fred Holbeck, Missoula, from the playoffs. He went on to win with a 265 game. See tournament results. The winners of the High Rollers entry was Dave John of Pocatello, Idaho, however, he declined the entry so it passed to Fred Holbeck of Missoula, Montana. He was next high qualifier in the B Division with an 1100 and second high score for the 50 years of age and over participants. To be eligible for the High Rollers entry, the bowler must be at least 50 years old. Winners of the STORM Bowling Ball raffle were all from Missoula: Tricia Monaco, Teri Hodges and Swan Swanson. The next tournament will be at Burley, Idaho, at Snake River Bowl. There is always a great shot there and being centralized, maybe a few more participants will be willing to travel there. We would like to welcome new members Tina Davis, Arnie Diaz, and Neale Stuart, all of Missoula, Montana.
SO!! Who's Winning the Pots?
