There were 81 entries in the first tournament of the 2002-2003
season as we returned to Bowl-ero Lanes in Idaho Falls again. That is a new
record for a September tournament. The overall record is 83 entries - one we
expect to surpass this season.
Out of the 81 entries, ten posted scores over the 1000 mark, as Randy
Ypma of Manhattan, Montana, was tops with the only 1100 mark - an 1103.
Gene Baxter, of V-1 Oil Company, and Vic Verhoff, of
Vic's Truck &
Auto Repair, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho, each chipped in $250 to the prize fund
to make the payoff generous.
There are a lot of new faces at this tournament: Steve Earley of
Bountiful, Utah; Jeff Foster of Taylorsville, Utah; Ed Hodges of Missoula,
Montana; Larry Landers and Randy Scharf of Jackson, Wyoming; Vic Lorengo of
Spring Creek, Nevada; Steve Rasmussen and Alan K. Trahern of Elko, Nevada;
Wally Sinks of Idaho Falls, Idaho; John Trask of Nampa, Idaho; and Leon Uzelac
of Woods Cross, Utah.
There was some exciting moments during the playoffs, especially
the score between Bob Bywater of Rupert, Idaho, and Lynn Larsen of Blackfoot,
Idaho. In the two-game match, Bywater just barely nosed out Larsen with a score
of 410 to 409. To see all the results, go to the September 2002
tournament standings page.
The next tournament will be in Missoula, Montana, and as always,
promises to be great fun. It is sponsored by Western Title and Exchange, Jared
Langley Roofing, Overhead Door of Missoula, Century Amusement, Rodeway
Inn-Southgate, Paradise Casino, and Westside Lanes. These people have been great
sponsors in the past, and we certainly appreciate their continued interest in
our tournament.
We would also like to thank the staff and management of Bowl-ero
Lanes, especially Beth Hill and Jerry Thorpe, for hosting a great tournament.
SO!! Who's Winning the Pots?
